No new Covid cases in NZ, Victoria set to reopen

Just In: Sydney's Mask Restrictions Have Been Expanded and Extended

In the past week, there have been no new COVID-19 cases of the Delta variant and health officials have determined there is unlikely to be widespread community transmission.

There are now no plans for a lockdown to be introduced, Ms Berejiklian said, because all but one case has been linked to known infections. The face mask rule - which until now only impacted certain council areas, and was due to be lifted tomorrow at midnight - has been extended for another week, and now applies to the entire Greater Sydney area, including Wollongong.

The three cases confirmed today included a woman in her 60s from Illawarra and a woman in her 40s from Sydney's northern suburbs.

Of the five, the two announced yesterday were both close contacts of previously reported cases and have both been in isolation.

The third is an eastern suburbs woman in her 20s who works at the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping centre, and is linked to the Bondi cluster.

The seventh case was a student at St Charles Catholic Primary School in Waverley, in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

"We anticipate in coming days at those in isolation with a household contact are likely to develop the disease given how contagious it is", Berejiklian said. "We feel the response is proportionate".

TC Energy terminates Keystone XL pipeline project
On Wednesday, he said the province will still work with USA partners to play a role in meeting American energy demands. The release said final costs to the government are expected to be approximately $1.3 billion, as previously estimated.

"At this stage, given Dr [Kerry] Chant did advise us already that she foresaw that household contacts would get the virus, and I think this demonstrates how important it is to isolate when you are asked to isolate".

Sixteen people in New Zealand had been identified as having been in locations of interest in NSW and have been told to stay at home and be tested.

"This follows a decision by New South Wales public health officials last night to classify the entire Westfield Bondi Junction mall and its vehicle park as a location of interest, not just the particular shops earlier identified".

Authorities are now also asking anyone who was at Westfield Bondi Junction (including the auto park) at any time between 12 June and 18 June to get tested for COVID-19.

Locations of interest are being updated, with health officials urging anyone in New Zealand who has visited Sydney since June 11 to check the New South Wales health website for more information and advice.

Anyone who was at The Royal Bondi (and not Totti's specifically) during the same time period is considered a casual contact and must get tested and isolate until negative result is received. Of those, eight have returned a negative test and three are outstanding.
