Saskatchewan is inching a little closer towards its re-opening target.

There were 2,159 tests processed on June 11. Sixty-eight per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose, while sixty-six per cent of those 12+ have also received their first dose.

An additional 14,849 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 893,514.

According to Union health ministry, more than 1.53 crore (1,53,79,233) Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered. There were 295 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Recoveries total 46,446 and 874 cases are considered active. But out of these, only 4,615 were first shots, and almost half of those were given in the 12 to 17 age group.

Mr O'Loughlin said: "The HSE and the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (Niac) are not supporting that yet so anyone who has had their first dose of AstraZeneca is going to have to wait to get their second dose of AstraZeneca from the vaccination programme".

The province announced Friday it had sped up the second dose schedule.

The number of active COVID-19 cases being reported in Saskatchewan has fallen below 900 for the first time since early November.

These cases are located in the Far North West, 18; Far North East, 12; North Central, three; and North East, three; 3,606 cases (98 per cent) have recovered, and 4 people are hospitalized.

Five cases tested out of province have been added: in the far north east (4), with one more pending resident information.

The news comes as Saskatchewan reported 106 new cases of the virus on Saturday. Eighty-seven people are receiving inpatient care, including one patient from Manitoba, in the following zones: Saskatoon (30), Regina (28), North West (13), North Central (5), South Central (5), Central East (4), South West (1), and South East (1).

The remaining 20 people are intensive care: north west (2), north central (3), Saskatoon (6), central east (1), Regina (7) and south west (1).

There is one new death to report today in the 80-plus age group from the Saskatoon zone.

The seven-day average of daily new cases sits at 78, or 6.4 per 100,000 population.
