Health Minister Martin Foley and COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar have provided an update on the state's response to coronavirus and floods.

There have been 9 positive COVID-19 cases who have visited this shopping centre during the current outbreak.

However, the emergence of mystery cases like the man's continues to concern authorities because they can "linger and build".

Mr Foley said all necessary measures to trace the case were being taken.

"What I'm a little bit concerned about is being well-advanced now - we're nearly two and a half to three weeks into this outbreak - but we're still finding new branches", he said.

Most of the residents will only be required to isolate until they receive a negative result, but there are a select amount of people in the complex who will be forced to undergo 14 days quarantine.

The group travelled from Australia to New Zealand via Sydney and failed to declare that they had initially come from Melbourne, Victoria.

The Victorian health department added new Covid exposure sites to the list over the weekend, including the Freshwater Place office building in Southbank which was listed as a tier 2 exposure site on Sunday after it was visited multiple times by a potentially infectious person last week.

The New Zealand Government has extended the pause on the transtasman bubble with the Australian state of Victoria for a further seven days.

Australia's second-most-populous state has recorded 92 cases in its latest wave of Covid-19 infections, which triggered a two-week snap lockdown late last month.

Several exposure sites from a small number of "internal facilities" have been identified within the complex, where the Melbourne man may have contracted the virus from the worker.

There were 15,110 test results received on Friday and 20,660 vaccines administered.

Four new cases have also entered hotel quarantine in the state.

There were just over 130 exposure sites on Saturday morning.

The health department is urging anyone in those areas with COVID symptoms to get tested immediately.

The cases in the greater Melbourne outbreak are genomically linked to cases arriving from overseas, but at least three cases are unclear in how they caught the virus.

They will not need to isolate or be tested once they land in New Zealand.
