Old rule could see Harry and Meghan's daughter get royal title

Prince Harry and Meghan announce birth of baby girl

Queen Elizabeth II has expressed happiness on Harry and Meghan's daughter's birth.

The couple issued a statement along with the announcement on Sunday, writing, "She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe".

The name is a nod to both the baby's paternal grandmother, the late Princess Diana, and paternal great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who went by the childhood nickname "Lilibet" among her close family members.

She weighed seven pounds and 11 ounces, and is now "settling in at home".

"We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili".

Members of the royal family extended their congratulations to Harry and Meghan.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to welcome their second child, a daughter, very soon and along with speculation around the bub's name looms the question of her royal title.

Diana, the former wife of Prince Charles and mother to Harry and his elder brother William, died in a Paris vehicle crash in 1997.

"It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world".

1st case of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine related death confirmed in Ontario
Data from the United Kingdom suggests a much-reduced risk of VITT in second doses of AstraZeneca. Yaffe said those who received a first dose of AstraZeneca made the right choice.

Like her two-year-old brother Archie, Lili will use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.

In early 2020, Meghan and Harry announced they were quitting royal duties and moving to North America, citing what they said were the unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British media.

Meghan, a California native, gave birth to Archie in a London hospital near the Sussexes' home in Windsor, England, where they lived at the time.

The new baby will be entitled to be a princess and Archie a prince - both with HRH styles - after the death of the Queen and when Charles becomes king.

Lilibet was the Queen's family nickname and the name Prince Philip used to call her, according to The Sun.

The little girl was born just days before what would have been Prince Philip's 100th birthday.

Harry and Meghan revealed they were expecting a girl during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, broadcast in March.

The interview threw the family into crisis, deepening a rift between Harry and William, and with his father, heir-to-the throne Prince Charles. "To have any child, any one or any two, would have been awesome, but to have a boy and then a girl, I mean, what more can you ask for?"

The couple told Winfrey they are not planning to have more children, saying to Winfrey, "Two is it".
