Ontario Stay at Home Order Set to Expire Tomorrow

Reopening

Youth aged 12 and over are now eligible to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment through the provincial booking system and call centre, as well as at select pharmacies administering the Pfizer vaccine.

Restaurants and bars across the province will have to remain closed until at least June 14.

Ford sought advice on the matter last week and has spent the past few days coming up with his decision.

Gatherings larger than five people are allowed if all members are from the same household.

Some outdoor recreational facilities, like golf courses and tennis courts, were cleared to reopen on May 22 as COVID-19 cases in the province continued to trend downward.

"It's no secret that some of them said kids should be back in school on a regional basis", Ford said.

Indian state unable to obtain Covid-19 shots directly from Moderna
Investigators enrolled 3,700 participants and randomly assigned two-thirds to receive two doses of the Moderna vaccine. The Centre has said that it is making all effort to source Covid-19 vaccines whether it is from Moderna or Pfizer.

Even though Ontario's stay-at-home order expires on Wednesday, the vast majority of restrictions are set to stay in place.

However, until stage one of the province's reopening plan begins, not much is expected to change. The letter included a series of seven questions including if it would be safe for students and staff to be at school and whether teachers should be fully vaccinated before returning to class. Individuals who are not 12 years old at time of booking can book an appointment for a later date through the provincial call centre or directly through public health units that use their own booking system.

Andrea Horwath, leader of the opposition, said Ford is putting students in Ontario last by keeping them out of the classroom for the rest of the year. "He didn't vaccinate teachers and education workers early enough or quickly enough".

"The Chief Medical Officer of Health has advised the people of Ontario - and when repeatedly asked about the safety of schools, transmission schools - have suggested that the protections we put in place has kept students and staff safe", Lecce said. Ontario students deserve this positive conclusion to their academic journey, safely.

It may not be what some parents wanted to hear, but students will finish the school year at home.

CTV News Toronto reports that the decision on whether to leave Ontario classrooms closed for the remainder of the school year is partly based on public opinion polling, commissioned by the Progressive Conservative government, which pitted schools against the economy. Those before and after school programs that operate as a camp over the summer will be permitted to do so, and will follow health and safety guidance from the Ministry of Health.
