COVID-19: CDC Issues Brand-New Guidance On Mask-Wearing Indoors

Dr. Rochelle Walensky

His comments came hours after the CDC announced that people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 do not need to wear masks or practice social distancing indoors or outdoors, except under certain circumstances.

Appearing maskless during remarks in the White House Rose Garden, Biden said, "You have endured all this". In that update, the CDC said that fully-vaccinated Americans could safely participate in outdoor activities without a mask, so long as those activities did not involve large crowds.

The new rules also took out language that stated that passengers should wear masks while seated on the pool deck area or while congregating outside of recreational water facilities.

President Joe Biden on Thursday celebrated the new guidelines lifting mask requirements for people who are fully vaccinated, crediting his administration's vaccination program with dramatically reducing the impact of the coronavirus.

"You should still mask and you should get vaccinated right away", Walensky advised those who haven't been vaccinated.

The government agency said that people should still wear masks in closed, crowded spaces such as buses, planes and mass transportation, however.

And Walensky warned that those who are immunocompromised should speak to their doctors before putting down their masks.

Australia Disappointed After China Freezes Economic Talks ‘Indefinitely’
The move will make it even harder to fix strained diplomatic relations between Australia and China. Defence Minister Peter Dutton has warned that China was militarising ports in the Asia Pacific.

"I would like to say that we have fully vaccinated people; we should start acting like it", Cox, a Republican, told Biden.

The announcement comes as new cases have continued to fall to their lowest rate since last September. Deaths have fallen to rates not seen since April 2020 and test positivity rate is at its lowest point since the pandemic began in the country.

Almost 60% of Americans have received at least one dose. "It's been made possible by the extraordinary success we've had in vaccinating so many Americans so quickly".

The CDC revealed that there is a big change regarding those individuals in the United States who are fully vaccinated.

And while some people still get COVID-19 despite vaccination, Walensky said that's rare and cited evidence that those infections tend to be milder, shorter and harder to spread to others.

"We followed the science here", said Walensky, adding, "a coalescence of more science that has emerged just in the last week".
