COVID-19 vaccination appointments

NJ to Open Vaccines to All Residents 16 and Older on April 19

Starting at 8 a.m. tomorrow, April 6, people born in 1950 or earlier can book their COVID-19 vaccination online. People can register online at gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated, by telephone through a provincial call centre at 1-833-838-2323 or in-person at the nearest Service BC location. On Tuesday, people aged 71 and older and Indigenous people aged 18 and older can register for a dose.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has said B.C.is on track to vaccinate almost half a million British Columbians by mid-April.

People can find out online when it is their turn to book and are asked to wait until their cohort is announced before registering "to preserve system capacity", the province said.

The changes to the vaccine booking process mean B.C.is moving into Phase 3 of its four-phase vaccination plan, the statement said.

The online registration system for vaccinations was supposed to open April 12, but Premier John Horgan said in a news release that the earlier launch marks a "major milestone" in B.C.'s fight against COVID-19.

Ontario to begin 4-week lockdown Saturday across 34 public health units
In addition, Ford says the government is doing everything they can to keep kids in class. "This is a top priority", said Ford. Essential stores will remain open at 50 percent capacity and non-essential retail can operate at 25 percent capacity.

Once the website is up and running, residents will be able to register to receive a confirmation code, which will then allow them to book their appointment.

Many people in this province have been calling for access to online booking, as until now, only people living within the Fraser Health Authority could do so. The province surpassed 1,000 cases three times last week.

The first dose of the vaccine has been given to 87,634 beneficiaries who are within the age group of 45 to 60 years and the second dose has been administered to 1,016 such beneficiaries, he added. The variant has also sidelined members of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team.

In addition to the COVAX supply, Canada is to receive 1,019,070 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and 855,600 doses of the Moderna vaccine over the next seven days.
