Over 7.44 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses administered till now

Starting today the government has opened up the COVID-19 vaccination to include everybody above 45 years of age

The country recorded 93,249 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, the highest single-day rise since September, which took the total COVID-19 cases to 1,24,85,509, according to the health ministry data. No new registrations should be allowed since some ineligible beneficiaries were getting their names enlisted under this category, in violation of rules.

Updating the House on Singapore's vaccination programme, Dr Janil said that about 60 per cent of eligible seniors aged 70 and above, and close to 70 per cent of eligible seniors aged 60 to 69, have received the Covid-19 vaccination or booked their vaccination appointments to date. He added that there has been an increase of 24 per cent in the database for HCWs in the past few days. Besides, 4,57,78,875 and 7,65,354 beneficiaries aged more than 45 have been administered the first and second dose respectively.

India recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 cases in one day so far amid the second wave of coronavirus, in almost six months.

The ministry said the numbers included 89,03,809 healthcare workers (HCWs) and 95,15,410 frontline workers, who have taken the first dose. The vaccination of the Frontline Workers (FLWs) started on February 2. "However, universal vaccination of already registered HCWs and FLWs should be ensured at the earliest", he added. The country on Thursday began its third phase of the coronavirus vaccination drive, under which all people above 45 years will be covered.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from March 1 for those over 60 years of age and for people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

According to the health ministry, advance appointments for vaccination can be booked through http://cowin.gov.in, or one can visit their nearest vaccination centre after 3 pm and get on-site registration done.
