The country recorded 93,249 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, the highest single-day rise since September, which took the total COVID-19 cases to 1,24,85,509, according to the health ministry data. No new registrations should be allowed since some ineligible beneficiaries were getting their names enlisted under this category, in violation of rules.
Updating the House on Singapore's vaccination programme, Dr Janil said that about 60 per cent of eligible seniors aged 70 and above, and close to 70 per cent of eligible seniors aged 60 to 69, have received the Covid-19 vaccination or booked their vaccination appointments to date. He added that there has been an increase of 24 per cent in the database for HCWs in the past few days. Besides, 4,57,78,875 and 7,65,354 beneficiaries aged more than 45 have been administered the first and second dose respectively.
India recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 cases in one day so far amid the second wave of coronavirus, in almost six months.
