People who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can travel freely in the USA, as long as they remain masked on planes, buses and trains, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Friday.

The new guidance from the agency states that fully vaccinated Americans are exempt from Covid-19 tests before and after travel and do not have to quarantine "unless the destination requires it".

On Friday, the CDC announced that vaccinated Americans could travel safely in the nation without having to quarantine or get tested for COVID-19.

The CDC, along with President Biden, are urging Americans to follow public health guidelines and get vaccinated.

A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last recommended dose of vaccine, the CDC said.

She nonetheless held out the promise of travel in asking people to get vaccinated when they can. It is also keeping requirements that almost all global USA air visitors getting a negative COVID-19 test before traveling to the United States.

There is no change on guidance for people that are not fully vaccinated.

Masks are still recommended, along with social distancing and other precautions.

- Fully vaccinated people can travel within the US, without getting tested for the coronavirus or quarantining. He said the CDC's acknowledgment that vaccinations eliminate the need for testing and quarantine removes a key barrier to domestic travel. It also said vaccinated people could visit with unvaccinated people from a single household under similar conditions, as long as the unvaccinated individuals were at low risk for severe illness if infected. At the time, the CDC didn't change its travel recommendations. More than 553,000 people have died of the virus in the USA, amid more than 30 million cases.

Those who haven't received their second shots or haven't been immunized for two weeks should especially avoid traveling, according to the CDC.
