COVID-19 Vaccines To Arrive This Week

Update First Pfizer vaccine shipment arrives in Australia

More than 142,000 doses had arrived at Sydney airport, the government said.

The health minister said the first jabs would be done by the end of the month.

Earlier on Sunday, Mr Hunt announced the government has developed a plan to make sure accurate vaccination information reaches everyone in Australia, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

"I can also confirm that the vaccines are scheduled to land in Australia before the end of the week, if not earlier".

Frontline workers, hotel quarantine staff and aged care workers will be among the first to get the vaccine.

DHL is one of two companies tasked with distributing the vaccine - which needs to be stored at between minus 60 and minus 80 degrees Celsius - to hospitals, GP clinics and pharmacies around the country.

The vaccine is awaiting final regulatory approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

Another 50 million are getting made here in Australia in Melbourne.

"We're now into the second half of February and still not a single Australian has received a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine. They will also do testing as part of that".
