The Pinnacle Station, a training facility added to the first Mass Effect, won't appear in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition alongside over 40 other pieces of downloadable content.

Word of Pinnacle Station's source code woes actually dates back to when the Mass Effect Trilogy was released on the PlayStation 3, As in the Legendary Edition, Pinnacle Station was not included in the PS3 trilogy and at the time the developers shared it was due to a source code corruption.

Although it was once worth only 400 Microsoft points, the DLC has become the one of the rarest post-launch packs to own from the franchise.

You'll still be able to get your hands on the rest of the DLC along with the trilogy all given a lovely new modern coat of paint when Mass Effect Legendary Edition launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on May 14, 2021.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Had to Cut Pinnacle Station DLC Due to Lost Code

When approaching the development of the Legendary Edition, Bioware reached out to Demiurge Studios to "try again". That particular bit of DLC was actually developed by a different team, Demiurge Studios, and despite EA and BioWare managing to obtain backups for the code from Demiurge, almost all the data was corrupted. Speaking to Game Informer, game director Mac Walters said that trying to save the DLC was an "emotional roller coaster" that included reaching out to Demiurge and trying to obtain backups.

"It would basically take us another full six months just to do this with most of the team we've got", Walters explained. We wish we could do it. Leaving it on the cutting-room floor.

Thankfully, it isn't the most vital piece of Mass Effect content and many fans will agree that it is not a game-breaking absence.

Mass Effect 3's multiplayer mode also won't be in the Legendary Edition, which Walters tells IGN was ultimately about "knowing where to draw the line".
