The social media giant has announced that it's in the process of testing a TikTok-like vertical feed for Instagram Stories, a feature that was rather ironically borrowed from rival Snapchat.
Instagram is working towards a new design for its stories that should replicate TikTok's style more than ever.
According to a TechCrunch report, navigating with vertical swipes up and down would make Stories experience more like Reels, recently launched by Facebook to compete with the Chinese short-video making app. In order to use this feature, users will need to confirm that they are the owner of the Instagram account via an email or a text. The vertical swipe up and down will make the app behave more like how the reels are scrolled through now within the app. Vertical scrolling feels a lot more natural than taps and horizontal swipes for a format like Stories. If you can see someone stories on the top portion of your app that is because you follow them and if you follow them you will naturally be able to see what they posted on their feed, so them taking it to their story to let their followers know what they posted should be off the charts.
"This is an early prototype and is not now testing on Instagram", a company spokesperson was quoted as saying.
House Republicans To Keep Rep. Liz Cheney In Leadership Position
Daniel Bishop (R-N.C.) kicked things off by formally introducing a resolution calling on Cheney to step down from her post. Adam Kinzinger, the Republican Jewish Coalition and several prominent members of the party to take action against Greene".
Another said: "Feed posts in stories is one of the main ways I find new content and accounts I like, and hear voices outside of my own community".
Many people browse Instagram from their desktops while at work, as it might be prohibitive or too visual to take out their smartphone.
There's no word on how long the Instagram test will be running or if it will be occurring globally, so keep sharing those memes while you still can. After introducing Reels previous year, Instagram is reportedly testing another TikTok-like feature to enhance their overall user experience. In contrast, TikTok's feed is vertical, so users swipe up to get to the next piece of content.
