United States politicians will vote Thursday (local time) on whether to remove QAnon-backing Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene from two House committees, after leaders failed to agree on the first-term congresswoman's fate.
"It is clear there is no alternative to holding a floor vote on the resolution to remove Rep. Greene from her committee assignments", Hoyer said in a Wednesday statement.
And while the California Republican said he didn't agree with Cheney's vote to impeach Donald Trump, McCarthy said she had a right to vote that way.
She apologised, and no action was taken against her. House Democrats voted to condemn anti-Semitism, though their resolution did not name Ms Omar.
The internal GOP fight over how to handle Greene and Cheney underscored the hold Trump and his voters still have on much of the party. But he's been criticized by some Republicans, mostly quietly, for relentlessly supporting Trump's fallacious claims of a fraudulent election last November and for not forcefully criticizing Trump for helping provoke the deadly January 6 attack on the Capitol by his supporters.
The release said McCarthy's "cowardly refusal to deal with Greene breaks with calls from Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, the Republican Jewish Coalition and several prominent members of the party to take action against Greene".
That's just one of the eye-popping nuggets of vitriol that Greene, a relentless provocateur, spewed or supported on her social media accounts before winning a seat in a deeply red district in northern Georgia in November. Even during the effort to punish her, she has lashed out at Democrats and raised money on the controversy.

Oxford University said there were no adverse effects, although it was reported that a volunteer died in October 2020 . There is no suggestion there was any risk to the health of trial participants.
McCarthy reportedly offered to remove Ms Greene from the education panel if she could stay on the budget committee, but Mr Hoyer refused the deal. But the Steering Committee adjourned Tuesday night without rendering a decision on Greene.
Which means that, nearly certainly, the fate of Greene's committee service will be left to the Democratic House majority - taking McCarthy entirely (or mostly) out of the picture.
Greene, a freshman member from Georgia, has a long record of making incendiary remarks ranging from allegedly supporting violence against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democrats, to spreading baseless claims that mass school shootings were staged. The establishment wing will see McCarthy's non-choice as not only an abdication of his responsibilities as a leader within the party but also a missed opportunity to put Trump (and his allies) in the GOP's rear-view mirror. Taken together, the comments intensified the stakes over Greene's online embrace of conspiracy theories and calls for violence against Democratic politicians. The eight-term lawmaker is hoping to become speaker should Republicans capture the House majority in the 2022 elections and has little interest in antagonizing any GOP colleagues.
GOP lawmakers, though, said it is unfair to hold her accountable for comments she made before taking office, but not hold Democratic members of Congress accountable for anti-semitic comments they made while serving in the chamber. Action against either risked angering the GOP's numerous Trump supporters or its more traditional conservative backers.
After leadership addressed the conference, the meeting quickly turned into a "fiery" exchange, as one source inside the room described it. Rep. Daniel Bishop (R-N.C.) kicked things off by formally introducing a resolution calling on Cheney to step down from her post. But it was unclear whether GOP lawmakers would vote on that during Wednesday's meeting or if McCarthy would somehow delay that showdown.
What about the upcoming Senate impeachment trial? . In a procedural vote last week, all but five GOP senators voted to scuttle the proceedings, indicating that his conviction is unlikely.
