CD Projekt Warns Cyberpunk 2077 Mods Pose a Security Risk

Cyberpunk 2077 is not doing great since its release.

"A group of community members reached out to us to bring up an issue with the external DLL files the game uses", a CDPR representative said.

Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red have had to issue a warning today that anyone deciding to install a mod for the game should "use caution" after a security issue was discovered. "This issue can be potentially used as part of a remote code execution on PCs". Issue will be fixed ASAP. In the meantime, we advise everyone to refrain from using files obtained from unknown sources. However, it is practically impossible to know whether a particular mod is virus free or not. This comes just a week after the developers officially released modding support tools for Cyberpunk 2077.
