Facebook and Google extend working from home to end of year

The generality of Google and Facebook employees resume back to their offices for work next year, but they are to carry on with their duties from home.

"Facebook has taken the next step in its return to work philosophy".

Reports said Sundar Pichai, Google's chief executive officer, told employees on Thursday to prepare to work from home until October and possibly into next year.

This comes as more and more companies start to roll out their strategies for dealing with getting back to work.

Here’s what to expect for the penumbral lunar eclipse on June 5
This is why it may not be worth waking up or staying up for if you've had a late Friday night. Apart from this, there is a solar eclipse scheduled to take place on 5th July 2020.

The Chairman of early stage startup accelerator and venture fund, Axilor Ventures, also said that numerous smaller Indian startups have found that they are as effective working out of home and are now wondering whether they require permanent office space at all. Earlier the California-based company had said that it will keep its work from home policy till June 1, 2020 and reopen afterwards. According to the company, it would continue to pay hourly employees who may not be able to work because of reduced staffing, office closures, or if they're sick, IANS reported.

Pichai also told all Google employees to take Friday 22 May as an official day off to decompress, citing concerns about burnout.

"As you can imagine this is an evolving situation as employees and their families make important decisions re: return to work", adding, "Facebook is still determining which employees will be asked to come in". They were one of the first companies to allow their employees to start working from home when the crisis got underway. However, the company realizes the importance of social distancing and working from home in this unprecedented time.

Google has advised employees that they'll likely remain working from home for the remainder of the year due to continued impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
