Duchess Meghan sought advice from senior royals before writing letter to father

Meghan Markle Admits To Using A Friend To Communicate & Give Information To 'Finding Freedom' Amid Court Case

In its defence, The Mail on Sunday maintains that it was Thomas Markle who asked the media to publish the extracts from the letter after claims about its existence started to circulate.

A document filed at London's High Court by Meghan's legal team said she wrote Thomas Markle the letter "in an attempt to get him to stop talking to the press".

The document said that due to her "distress" at media coverage of her father "and as the newest member of the royal family who wanted to follow protocol, the claimant sought advice from two senior members of the royal family on how best to address the situation".

A source close to the team representing the Duchess at the time said: "The Duchess felt it was necessary to take this step to try and protect her friends - as any of us would - and we're glad this was clear".

"In accordance with the advice that she had received from the two members of the royal family, the claimant made a decision to write a private letter to her father in an attempt to get him to stop talking to the press".

Meghan, the wife of Queen Elizabeth's grandson Prince Harry, is suing Associated Newspapers over articles in the Mail on Sunday that included parts of the handwritten letter she had sent to her estranged father Thomas Markle in August 2018. Mr Knauf was responsible for telling other senior members of the royal households of the plan, the documents reveal.

Meghan's lawyers said she showed a draft of the letter to her husband and to Knauf, and that Knauf provided "feedback on the draft but no actual wording".

Ireland to begin mink cull over mutated virus fears
It has only been identified in 12 people, and no cases of the variant have been detected since September 15. What if we get a zoonotic disease that affects pigs in the next pandemic?

Responding to ANL's claims that Kensington Palace's then communications secretary Jason Knauf "and/or" the Kensington Palace communications team "contributed" to a draft of the letter, Meghan's legal team stated in their reply that the Duchess shared a draft - of the notes she wrote on her iPhone - with Harry and Mr Knauf.

Meghan hasn't spoken to her parent since her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

After he moved to the USA with wife and son, Archie, the Duke has headlined a series of projects.

Earlier it was reported that at the request of 39-year-old Megan, the trial in her case, scheduled for January 2021, was postponed for nine months for unknown reasons - until next autumn. They recently bought a house in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The Duchess of Sussex, however, "does not know to what extent or in what terms this one item of information concerning her communications with her father was shared with the authors", the lawyers added. And she tried to influence the description of events by offering her own version.

The document also says the duchess allowed an unnamed individual to speak to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the authors of Finding Freedom, a biography of her and Prince Harry. He has since slammed his daughter in the media on several occasions and accused her of abandoning him.
