A total of 5,35,167 people have been fined for violating social distancing norms, not wearing masks or spitting in public places.

The capital New Delhi is, however, witnessing an enormous increase in new cases. The death toll has climbed to 7,873, while 4,11,759 patients have recovered.

Statewise - the worst-hit continues to be Maharashtra with 17,63,055 confirmed cases, followed by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
