Ravi Kishan raises Bollywood-drugs nexus in LS

No nexus between film industry drug mafia says government

"At a time when the economy is in a very bad condition, we (Bollywood) are being targeted on social media to divert the attention of the people", said Jaya.

In response to a written question in the Lok Sabha on whether the government has conducted a detailed inquiry into the matter, Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy today said the Narcotics Control Bureau has found no such "actionable inputs" during the COVID-19 lockdown. Richa Chadha wrote, "Mrs. Jaya Bachchan started her career with legend Satyajit Ray and then went on to redefine Hindi cinema. I need the protection, this industry needs protection and support of the government", Jaya Bachchan said.

Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday came out in support of Jaya Bachchan's comment in Parliament about tarnishing Bollywood's image using the drugs angle. They say there is a drug racket. Her statement and posturing is quite shallow and shameful. "Is this what, the acclaimed member from the first family of Bollywood be doing?" The "Fashion" star slammed the veteran actor for her speech and now, actress Payal Rohatgi has also hit back at her. "I completely disagree. I really dissociate myself and I hope that the government tells these people who have made their earning and name and fame in the industry to stop using such language", she said, without naming anyone. I am ashamed that yesterday one of our members in Lok Sabha (the lower house of parliament), who is from the film industry, spoke against it. "It is a shame".

Coronavirus Ireland: no further deaths and 208 new cases
Elsewhere, the period of time someone must self-isolate after recovering from the disease has been cut from 14 to 10 days. Ten Douglas County residents have died thus far from COVID-19 or with the virus as a contributing factor in their deaths.

Kangana had on an earlier occasion called the film industry a "gutter" claiming that 99 per cent of the people associated with it had been exposed to drugs. I think the government must support this industry and not kill it. If there is national calamity, they give their money and everything.

Ravi Kishan had on Monday said that drug conspiracy is a big issue and has affected Bollywood, urging the government to take strict measures against the culprits.

Although she took no names, her remarks come a day after Ravi Kishan remarks about drug addiction in the film industry and actor Kangana's repeated statements against Bollywood, including calling it a "gutter". "Show compassion for us also", Kangana said.
