South Dakota AG Reported Hitting Deer, But Police Found Man's Body

South Dakota's Attorney General involved in fatal crash

A release from the Department of Public Safety doesn't say if Ravnsborg stopped his auto to confirm that he hit a deer and look at the damage to his vehicle.

"We are now working the investigation as referenced by Governor Noem in Hyde County", Price said Sunday.

Ravnsborg, 44, was driving from a Republican fundraiser in Redfield to his home some 110 miles away in Pierre on Saturday night when he was involved in the crash on US Highway 14, spokesman Tim Bormann said. Ravnsborg was not injured in the crash, the Department of Public Safety said.

A spokesperson for Mr Ravnsborg said he had not been drinking on the night of the crash and that he called 911 immediately after the collision.

Bormann said the attorney general is known to have an occasional drink, but has made it a practice not to drink at the Lincoln Day events.

New Zealanders Protest Auckland's Coronavirus Lockdown
They are employed to work exclusively at the Auckland quarantine facility and do not work at any other site. A deep clean of staff areas in the facility was completed yesterday.

According to the Rapid City Journal, details are thin after Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) briefed the public on the hit-and-run incident where the attorney general struck a person on his way back from a Republican Party event around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The crash took place west of Highmore, in central South Dakota, and Noem said law enforcement is "working on identifying the deceased and notifying the family".

Boever's cousin, Victor Nemec, told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that Boever's truck hit a pile of hay earlier in the day and he was given a ride back home.

"A deer doesn't look like a human", said Boever's cousin former state Rep. Nick Nemec (D-SD), according to the Dickinson Press.

'My worst fear is that they're trying to get ducks in a row to absolve the attorney general of any wrongdoing, ' Nemec told Keloland. "At this time I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to the family".
