Last weekend, the Diversity leader was introduced to the Britain's Got Talent stage as a stand-in judge for a second week to Sir Elton John's hit I'm Still Standing, following the backlash.

The Good Morning Britain co-presenters addressed the topic live on the ITV breakfast show on Monday (14 September) and condemned people sending threats and racial abuse to Banjo.

In a seven minute clip posted to Instagram, Banjo said though the majority of the feedback he'd had was positive, he had also received negativity, including threats and racial abuse.

"He sends out positive vibes to the haters and the lovers of the piece that they did, and it just shows what an incredible human being he is".

"He's saddened by the negativity but it sort of backs up the fact that we all need to be talking about it and need to support it and talk about the positivity".

The performance sparked a huge response online with some viewers labelling it "politically motivated" while others said it was "powerful" and congratulated Diversity on their "stunning" and "brave" storytelling. Thousands of messages of love and support - thank you.

Ashley assured fans that he and the troupe are doing well, saying "We're feeling positive, proud, happy, confident and we stand by every single decision we made with that performance".

Banjo lasted in his Instagram movie:"Moving onto negativity, it has been a whole lot, what from racial abuse to risks, to merely some really awful things that I am not going to deliver light into".

"Racism is very real".

"I know a lot of the press reports have been about the complaints and the negativity, which there has been a lot - there's has been what, 15, 16,000 complaints".
