Masks now required for all of Australian state

Australia's Victoria state reports 384 new coronavirus cases

As wearing facemasks in public becomes compulsory throughout Victoria from this Sunday night, Mount Alexander's mayor is urging the community to help curb the spread of COVID-19 on our own doorstep.

Victoria has recorded its second-highest ever daily increase in coronavirus numbers, with 627 new cases on Friday, following Thursday's record of 723.

"Unless everyone plays their part this lockdown will not end anytime soon", Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said Thursday.

MS is continuing to see a sharp increase in reported cases of the virus, and Gov. Tate Reeves says he will put eight more counties under restrictions that include mandatory masks in public.

Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, said we had typically not followed what was happening in the U.S. and the United Kingdom due to their high case numbers.

The northeastern state of Queensland, which had effectively eliminated the virus, said it had found three new cases, two of whom were believed to have contracted COVID-19 while in the NSW capital Sydney.

They will join more than 1400 Australian Defence Force personnel already on the ground in the state.

Former chief medical officer Brendan Murphy said Epping Gardens is the facility authorities are most anxious about in Victoria. More than 100 people have been referred to Victoria Police for breaking quarantine.

'Too many people are going to work, even some when they have a positive test result, ' he said.

The agreement also calls for the US government to clean the graffiti off of the courthouse, which is federal property. State troopers might take a softer approach with the protesters because the troopers are from Oregon, Smith said.

Mr Andrews said the latest Victoria fatalities were three men and three women in their 70s, three men and two women in their 80s, and two men in their 90s. To date, over 950 COVID-19 cases have been linked to aged-care facilities and there are now 87 facilities that are dealing with active outbreaks.

The national death toll is 189.

"Aged care cases, including staff, account for just under around about 10 per cent of the total cases announced today, " he said.

New Zealand has not recorded a locally transmitted case from an unknown source in over 90 days and only 22 deaths in a population of five million.

Prof Sutton said while Victoria's surge was disappointing, the lockdown was having an effect.

"We have done everything we possibly can to mitigate the risk of the virus in aged care homes but no matter what we do to reduce that risk our greatest fear of community transmission and the risk of that spreading into homes is playing out", Mr Rooney told The Daily RESOURCE.

The Premier revealed there have also been 13 deaths since yesterday, which is the deadliest day for Australia since the pandemic started.

"With the majority being known close contacts, known outbreaks and clusters", he said.

Mr Morrison said on Wednesday there would be "no golden tickets" out of the coronavirus pandemic.
