Brewers home opener against Cardinals postponed, will play Saturday

Today's matinee game between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals has been postponed after two Cardinals players had received positive test results for COVID-19, ESPN reports.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman was the first to report the news on Twitter, adding that per his sources, the St. Louis Cardinals had multiple positive tests.

The infected Marlins left Philadelphia in a sleeper bus Friday to return to Miami, where they will remain together in quarantine, a person familiar with the situation told the AP. Heyman reports that the Cardinals were the team with positive tests.

St. Louis' traveling party, isolated in their Milwaukee hotel, was undergoing rapid testing Friday morning and the team said in a statement that it implemented contact tracing.

New York Post columnist Joel Sherman has also reported that multiple Redbirds tested positive. The team was off Thursday. "The Cardinals just came from Minnesota, so this is bad news for the Twins as well", Haudricourt tweeted.

Vt. secretary of state calls Trump tweet on delaying election 'dangerous'
Trump floated the idea Thursday morning at a time when almost all polls project he will lose against Joe Biden in November. He attempted to walk back on his claim Thursday afternoon, but still called mail-in voting "dangerous" in a tweet .

The Cardinals and Brewers are now scheduled to play a doubleheader at Miller Park on Sunday instead.

A week into its virus-shortened 60-game season, Major League Baseball is scrambling to adjust its schedule. The organization did not confirm the reason for the postponement, only saying the "health and safety of our fans, players, employees and game-day staff is our top priority". The next day, that number jumped to double-digits, and by Thursday, two members of the Phillies had tested positive as well.

The league is still dealing from the fallout of a widespread outbreak involving the Miami Marlins.

As a result, the Phillies had games against the Yankees postponed as a precaution.
