Health Department Reports Nine New COVID-19 Cases

Effingham County Health Department Wednesday received notice of another nine new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease. 11,728 COVID patients have been released from hospitals in Virginia since the beginning of the pandemic, up 78 from Wednesday.

New cases in Eastern Collin County include one in Farmersville, one in Josephine, two in Murphy, three in Princeton and one in Wylie. Officials reported an adjusted total of 6,353 confirmed cases.

Within Marshall County, 1,235 cases were confirmed on July 23, compared to 1,360 on Thursday. Marshall County has now had 22 COVID-related deaths, according to Friday's numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health.

There are 331 active COVID-19 cases in Marshall County which is 33 percent more than the previous week. This facility will be used to either quarantine individuals that may have been exposed, or to isolate individuals with laboratory-confirmed positive cases.

Marshall County has also had another 10 residents test positive, bringing the total to 732. Marshall County has had 18 confirmed cases. Three Douglas County residents have died thus far from COVID-19 or with the virus as a contributing factor in their deaths. The Health Department asks people in the community to consider whether to attend or host a large gathering, or additional precautions they could take given your personal and/or family health risks.
