Vancouver resident finds lost teddy bear containing her mother's voice recording

Mara Soriano said the teddy bear was stolen from U Haul late last week during a move. It was inside a backpack along with an iPad

Ms Soriano told the BBC that the bear was stolen when she was unloading a van with her fiancee and received a phone call from a friend who had been in a biking accident.

She says the bear is in ideal condition.

"She said that she loved me and she was proud of me and that she'll always be with me". The cancer had really eaten away at her and that bear was basically the last reminder of the mom that I knew - it was her voice that I remembered growing up, " she said in an earlier interview.

Soriano said Build-A-Bear has reached out to her about replacing the lost teddy bear. It was gone within minutes.

The video shows a man walking towards a backpack on the ground, standing beside it for a few moments, and then walking off with it.

Mara said two people returned the bear to her on Tuesday night having taken it from the original thief.

Train derails on Arizona bridge that collapses, catches fire
The south side of the bridge, which crosses Tempe Town Lake, also collapsed, and railcars fell into an empty park below, UP said. Johnny Grove, who filmed this, posted online: "One of Tempe's oldest train tracks over Tempe Town Lake on fire from a train".

The bear was inside a Herschel backpack along with other important items, including passports and citizenship documents, when someone grabbed it from the alley behind the Shoppers Drug Mart near Davie and Thurlow streets on Friday.

Soriano has special plans for the teddy bear. She said the men don't want to be identified publicly, and she isn't concerned with an explanation. It was created to resemble her mother, oversized glasses and all, and included a recording that said, in part: "No matter where you are, part of me will always be with you forever".

And while the bear is now back, Soriano lost an iPad with photos and video of her mother that hadn't been backed up. However, when she gets married next year, Soriano says the bear will sit in a front row seat where her mother would have been. She died in June 2019 at the age of 53. Much softer. Not the mum I grew up with. "That bear is the last memory I have of her speaking in her normal voice". I'm going to sleep with her tonight.

Soriano, who was born in the Philippines and moved to Vancouver from Toronto five years ago, said the bear also reminds her of home.

"I feel like she would have said "I told you so".
