Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform promises faster WearOS watches

Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 Leak Reveals Android Flagships Could Cost Way More In 2021

The new Snapdragon Wear 4100 utilises a more efficient and smaller 12nm processor compared to 28nm used by its predecessor.

On Tuesday, Qualcomm announced the two newest processors joining its line of Wear OS chips. It may use the new Cortex-X1 as its prime core, plus three Cortex-A77 for the big cores. Snapdragon Wear 4100+ is created to deliver more than 85% faster performance, compared to Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, and enhances the overall user experience with faster app launches, concurrent use cases, smoother & responsive UX, and richer photo & video experiences.

While it will be interesting to see how well the Wear 4100 chip performs, its ultimate success rides more on Google being able to update the Wear OS platform and make it more attractive to consumers. The platform promises 85% higher performance than the previous generation, 25% longer battery life, and a 2.5x faster GPU. The premier model is the Snapdragon 4100 Plus. Qualcomm's chips have been becoming more costly each year and this is another reason for the flagship phones becoming expensive each passing year.

Rolling Stones threaten Trump campaign with legal action
The tweet further read, "If Donald Trump If they ignore it and continue to use the song, then they will have to face trial". Popstar Rihanna also talked out that she did not want her songs played in a Trump rally in 2018.

One might argue that the price hike is justified as the chipset features both the processor and the Snapdragon X60 5G modem. We have partitioned memory and performance to enable up to 64K colors (from 16 colors) and extend offload experiences to include continuous heart rate monitoring and sleep for health and wellness, faster tilt-to-wake responsiveness, step counting, alarms, timers, and haptics for a more capable traditional watch mode. Prior to the upgrade, the main processor had to handle these tasks. The regular 4100 lacks the co-processor for manufacturers that don't need an ambient display. This means that the first devices containing them are set to debut within a few months.

Thanks to the improvements in the new chips, Google's Wear OS is ready to become a lot more functional. For those who are more inclined to sports, next-generation wearables will be able to enjoy the 4100 platform's improved Global Positioning System, off-line maps, and heart rate monitoring without having to worry about the device's battery draining too fast.
