Latest reports quote police saying a number of the gunmen have been killed and the attack is continuing.

"The assailants had a plan to hold people hostage inside as there are over a thousand employees at the PSX".

The attackers had brought food items with them and wanted to damage Pakistan's economy.

Following yesterday's attack, the Pakistani authorities vowed to strike back against any group found responsible for the onslaught, promising to dismantle their networks and destroy their bases. "The situation is still unfolding and management, with the help of security forces, is managing the security and controlling the situation", the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) said on Twitter.

India blasted Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday evening for reportedly accusing New Delhi of involvement in the attack on the Karachi stock exchange on Monday morning. The BLA is an armed insurgent group advocates for the independence of Balochistan province from Pakistan.

One policeman and three exchange security guards were killed, while seven other policemen were injured, Karachi police spokeswoman Shazia Jehan said in a statement.

Coronavirus vaccine: China approves Covid-19 vaccine for military use
That would be a huge scientific feat and there are no guarantees it will work, correspondents say. "The collaboration with ICMR and NIV was instrumental in the development of this vaccine ".

Pakistan has always been plagued by militant violence but attacks have become less frequent in recent years after military operations against various factions in strongholds along the Afghan border.

The terrorists, who arrived in a vehicle, opened indiscriminate fire and threw hand grenades at the main entry of the multi-storey building situated in the city's high security commercial hub in an attempt to storm it.

Its director, Abid Ali Habib said the gunmen made their way from the auto park and "opened fire on everyone".

Reports said the Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility of the attack. All staff inside the building were unharmed. The BLA has carried out several terrorist attacks in the past, including a suicide attack in August 2018 that targeted Chinese engineers in Balochistan, a November 2018 attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi, and aMay 2019 attack against Pearl Continental hotel in Gwadar, Balochistan.

In May 2019, the BLA warned China of dire consequences if Beijing did not quit CPEC projects in Balochistan. Baloch nationalists have long accused the central government of exploitation, and denying the province its due rights.
