FA Cup results: Usual suspects sneak through to next round

Holders Manchester City will play Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-finals if they can overcome Newcastle at St James' Park.

Earlier today, Arsenal and Chelsea joined their Premier League rivals in the semi-finals after defeating Sheffield United (2-1) and Leicester City (1-0), respectively on the road.

Manchester United were the first to make their way into the semi-finals on Saturday evening, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side laboured to a 2-1 win over a 10 man Norwich after extra time, captain Harry Maguire netting a 118th-minute victor for the Red Devils.

The draw features three of the Cup's four most successful sides, with Arsenal the record 13-time winners.

If the ninth-ranked team trails by four games or less, a play-in tournament would determine the final seed. The league also will address the recent calls for social justice in the wake of George Floyd's death.

But City have been rampant against Arsenal in recent years, and beat Mikel Arteta's side 3-0 when they faced each other 10 days ago in the first game back from the coronavirus hiatus.

Both games will be held at Wembley over the weekend of July 18-19.

Arsenal required a stoppage-time effort from Dani Ceballos to book their place in the last four, with the Gunners' victor against Sheffield United coming just four minutes after David McGoldrick had struck a late equaliser.
