Maharashtra: 6,368 fresh Covid-19 cases in state, 167 deaths

The country saw a surge of 3,38,324 infections from June 1 till date.

India's total number of positive cases stand at 5,28,859 including 2,03,051 active cases, 3,09,713 cured/discharged/migrated and 16,095 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The health ministry said it also briefed the GOM during its 17th meeting about the recovery and mortality rates, doubling rate and ramped up testing in various states.

With fresh 19, 459 cases being reported in the last 24 hours, India's tally coronavirus cases inched towards 5.5 lakh mark on Monday.

Meanwhile, the death toll reached 16,475 with 380 more fatalities. A total of 15,685 people have died from the disease there, including 385 in the 24 hours since the previous update.

There are now 1,97,387 active cases and 2,95,880 recoveries.
