Former boxing champion, Roberto Duran has reportedly tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus disease and as a result, has been hospitalized.

The news was confirmed by the 69-year-old's son Robin on Instagram who revealed that Duran now only has symptoms of a common cold.

'We'll be passing on more information over the days'.

Duran, 69, was taken to the health center as a preventive measure due to his age and because "he has a lung that does not work 100% due to an accident he suffered in 2001 in Argentina", his son said in the post.

Duran is also considered perhaps the greatest lightweight of all-time, having reigned supreme in the division as its undefeated champion throughout the 1970s as WBA and later WBC titleholder, fighting himself out of competition before moving up in weight. Duran won the world welterweight championship by earning a unanimous-decision victory over Leonard at Montreal in June. Over the course of his legendary career, Duran defeated the likes of Iran Barkley, Ken Buchanan, Carlos Palomino, Sugar Ray Leonard, Saoul Mamby.

The only fighter to deliver a loss on Leonard's record during his prime, Duran compiled a 103-16 professional record before retiring in 1997 following a 20-year career in the sport. The country has had more than 29,000 confirmed cases, with more than 13,000 still active and 564 deaths.
