Accomack County reports two new COVID-19 cases

Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 stats reported Saturday by health officials across Nebraska & Iowa.

The 225 new cases reported Friday are the third-highest single-day total in New Mexico since the outbreak surfaced March 11.

People between the ages of 18 and 40 made up the majority of confirmed cases with 44 percent; people between the ages of 41 and 60, 35 percent; people between the ages 61 and 80, 13 percent; people older than 81, 3 percent; and 4 percent have been younger than 18.

The number of people hospitalized is at its lowest level since May 9.

Increases in case numbers can correspond to increased testing. They have had a total of 24 cases with zero deaths.

Of the new cases, two of the people are in their 50s, one is in their 40s, one is in their 30s and one is a child under 10. The only two bigger days were June 5 - when 330 positive tests came in, driven partly by an outbreak among inmates - and April 29, when the state had 239 new infections. During those two weeks, case numbers in Texas and Arizona increased the most, by 153% and 135%, respectively.

La Plata and Archuleta counties both see large tourist populations from these states during the summer.

In the past 30 days, 208 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Bay County, 21 persons have been hospitalized, and no Bay County residents have died. "We hope to be reporting this information next week on our data dashboard". Last week 26 people were diagnosed with the disease.
