Tripoli-based govt retakes more areas of Libya’s capital

Turkey warns against attacks on its presence in Libya

The Libyan Army has retaken two military camps from warlord Khalifa Haftar's forces south of the capital Tripoli, said an army spokesman on Saturday.

A report last month by the International Crisis Group said that Turkey had sent at least 100 military officers to Libya, as well as shiploads of weapons and aerial defences and at least 2,000 pro-Turkish fighters from Syria.

On Wednesday, Haftar's forces announced they would withdraw up to 3 kilometers from the front line around Tripoli in a humanitarian gesture aimed at giving the residents a respite from the fighting to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

Haftar's illegal forces in eastern Libya have launched several attacks to capture Tripoli, with more than 1,000 killed in the violence. The focus of the conflict has shifted towards Tarhouna, the biggest remaining LNA stronghold in northwest Libya.

The United Nations mission in Libya said it was monitoring the mobilisation around Tarhouna with "great concern", and warned all parties against any acts of retribution.

"In the event Turkish interests in Libya are targeted, this will have very grave consequences", Aksoy said on Thursday, adding that the LNA's statements were "delusional".

COVID-19: Wuhan officially bans eating wild animals
On Feb. 24, 2020 the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress banned wild animal consumption for food. The wet markets had been banned back in March, but evidence came out that they were continuing to operate.

The United States supported the UN statement.

And on Monday the GNA said its forces had seized a strategic airbase from the Haftar camp.

They have also drawn a threat by the LNA, which is backed by the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Russian Federation, to carry out a massive air campaign in retaliation.

Turkish media reported Thursday that the GNA carried out five air operations against forces loyal to Haftar in the past 24 hours.

But its position has caused confusion as President Donald Trump, who has close ties with Haftar's Arab allies, in April 2019 spoke with the strongman by telephone and praised him.

It also maintains for training an L-39, a Czechoslovakian-built jet, which made its first flight in 2018 after more than 31 years in storage.
