Reuters/Ipsos poll: A quarter of Americans are hesitant about a coronavirus vaccine

Potential COVID-19 vaccine could be ready in September

Earlier this week, drugmaker AstraZeneca said it had secured its first agreements for 400 million doses of the Oxford-developed vaccine, bolstered by a $1 billion investment from a USA government agency, for the development, production and delivery of the vaccine, starting in the fall.

"Having looked at the data myself, it is really quite promising in the sense that in the phase-one study, which is the first step toward the development of a vaccine through its multiple phases, the vaccine induced what we call neutralizing antibodies, as opposed to just binding antibodies", Fauci said. Some health experts have admitted to being surprised by the survey numbers of people who would be willing to take a coronavirus vaccine.

The government has previously said that if the COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by Oxford University proves successful in human trials then up to 30 million doses for the United Kingdom could be available by September.

"If all the cards fall into the right place and all the stars are aligned, you definitely could get a vaccine by December or January", Dr Fauci said.

Freeman also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 2015 and 2016 while factoring heavily into Atlanta's passing attack. The 28-year-old struggled, rushing for just 656 yards and averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per carry.

"We have a lot of things happening on the vaccine front or the therapeutic front", Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about the AstraZenca announcement.

While the trials are moving quickly, Hill said, safety has not been compromised.

AstraZeneca's chief executive Pascal Soriot described the coronavirus as a "global tragedy" and "a challenge for all humanity". From the vaccine candidates we have in therace against COVID, the Oxford vaccine is progressing at an unbelievable pace. Earlier this week, USA biotech Moderna Inc announced potentially promising preliminary results from just eight individuals who took part in a safety study. Phase I began in April, and saw 1,000 immunizations completed, with the follow up still ongoing. "This group will assess how well the vaccine works to prevent people from becoming infected and unwell with COVID-19", they said in the statement.

Other leading vaccine candidates, including one from the U.S. National Institutes of Health and Moderna Inc. and another by Inovio Pharmaceuticals, simply inject a piece of the coronavirus genetic code that instructs the body itself to produce spike protein that primes the immune system.
