Lana Del Rey Post Doesn't Go Over Well

Lana Del Rey Responds to Claims Her Lyrics

Her singling out of those artists, almost all of whom are people of color, was just one of many criticisms leveled against the singer on social media.

The Grammy nominee then stated she is "fed up with female writers and alt singers" who claim she glamorises abuse "when in reality" she is "just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world".

Referencing Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Kehlani, Nicki Minaj, and Beyoncé by name, Lana questioned whether she is allowed to go back to singing about "feeling attractive by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect" or dancing for money, without being "crucified" or "glamourizing abuse" as the aforementioned ladies have allegedly earned number one singles with "songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing, cheating etc".

Read Lana's full post below. 'I'm not saying she's not getting criticism but she shouldn't overlook these women's struggles, especially their racial struggles, in the industry because she can't breakthrough or get a number 1 hit, ' one Twitter user wrote.

Lana hasn't yet responded to Doja, and no other pop star mentioned in her post has spoken about it either.

"This is sad to make it about a WOC [women of colour] issue when I'm talking about my favourite singers", she wrote.

New Coronavirus Cases See Biggest Increase In Single Day — WHO Director General
This means there will be "no going back to business as usual", according to Tedros, adding the virus is still "extremely unsafe ". With over 315,000 recorded infections, the country has the second-highest number of cases in the world after the US.

Twitter felt the post directly called for women of color and was not only racist, but hypocritical.

"Despite the feedback I've heard from several people that I mentioned in a complimentary way, whether it be Ariana [Grande] or Doja Cat-I want to say that I remain firm in my clarity and stance in that what I was writing about was the importance of self-advocacy for more delicate and often dismissed, softer female personality", she said.

She adds, "This is the problem with society today, not everything is about whatever you want it to be".

"Not everything is about whatever you want it to be".

As of Friday, none of the women she called out in her post have spoken out or even cryptically referenced her statement. So I just want to say it's been a long 10 years of bulls-t reviews up until recently and I've learned a lot from them. "To be clear because I knowwwwww you love to twist things". I would also like to have some of the same freedom of expression without judgement of hysteria.
