Seattle Seahawks reach deal with ex-Texans running back Carlos Hyde

NFL Atlanta Falcons at Houston Texans

Former Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman turned down a recent offer from the Seattle Seahawks per numerous reports and the value of that potential contract has now come to light. Freeman could change his stance depending upon how many other offers he receives. He has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the division-rival Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN. The 28-year-old struggled, rushing for just 656 yards and averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per carry.

The Seahawks have been known to want to add a veteran running back to add to a position group that was riddled with injuries at the end of the 2019 season and still has some uncertainty over when Rashaad Penny will be ready to return.

Could the Jets be in the market for another running back after signing veteran Frank Gore?

Silver has also reported that Seattle has had conversations with free agent Carlos Hyde.

NCAA allows resumption of voluntary team activities on June 1
But this week, some student-athletes have been approved to resume campus workouts, should they choose to participate. The vote doesn't mean that athletes can suddenly head back to campus, however.

Hyde spent four seasons with the 49ers, who drafted him in the second round of the 2014 draft, before stints in Cleveland, Jacksonville and then Houston the last two seasons. Freeman also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 2015 and 2016 while factoring heavily into Atlanta's passing attack.

Hyde, 29, is coming off a career-high 1,070-yard season with the Houston Texans.

In 2017, Freeman signed a five-year, $41.25 million extension with the Falcons, making him the NFL's highest-paid running back at the time. Coach Pete Carroll said the procedure to fix the injury was "more than just a normal ACL" surgery.
