Coronavirus: UEFA presidents predicts when Champions League, Europa League will resume

Speaking to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, Uva revealed the decision over what happens in domestic leagues across Europe this season will be made by those in charge of that league, rather than a blanket UEFA statement.

Liverpool's 25-point lead over Manchester City in the Premier League has been one of the biggest talking points in their pursuit for their first league title in 30 years - while the Europa and Champions League has been suspended indefinitely.

But although every major league now remains committed to finishing the 2019-20 season at some stage, Ceferin has said that time may ultimately run out.

"In this dramatic moment, the most important thing is people's health and getting out of this crisis", Ceferin told La Repubblica.

EFA has invited the leaders of its 55 national member associations to a video conference starting at 11am United Kingdom time to receive an update from working groups set up on March 17 in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.

"If we don't succeed in restarting, the season will probably be lost", the Slovenian said.

The latest developments on COVID-19 in Canada
Bonnie Henry says 81 people are hospitalized, including 52 in intensive care, and there has been one additional death. Yaffe added that 4,000 people had been tested in the past 24 hours and the backlog of testing was decreasing.

It's not a matter for us, it will be up to each league to decide. "We have to wait, like any other sector".

Playing games behind closed doors is one of the options that will be discussed by UEFA when the senior figures from all 55 of the organisation's member nations meet via video on Wednesday.

"It's hard for me to imagine all the matches behind closed doors, but we still don't know whether we'll resume, with or without spectators", he added. "The interruption of football symbolises that Europe and the world have stopped".

With Britain, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland (where Uefa is based) and other European countries in much stricter shutdown conditions than even a fortnight ago when Uefa postponed this summer's European Championship, the 30 June date suggested for concluding the season now looks even more improbable.

Aleksander Ceferin says it is possible that UEFA would have to consider the 2019-20 season null and void if play can not be restarted.
