Barack Obama, Andre Iguodala chime in on Stephen Curry-Dr. Fauci Q&A

The question-and-answer session lasted nearly 30 minutes and averaged close to 50,000 viewers, including former President Barack Obama, on Instagram Live. Additionally, Curry is inviting fans to participate by submitting questions pertaining to the pandemic leading up to the live conversation.

"What we are starting to see is that there are some people who are younger, people your age - young, healthy, vigorous, who don't have any underlying conditions - who are seriously ill", Fauci said. "And that's what we deal with on a daily basis when we sit down in the Situation Room in the White House every day to go over that. What you need to see is the trajectory of the curve start to come down", he said, referring to the number of total COVID-19 diagnoses. Though he explained that not every part of the United States should take the same approach with regard to lockdowns. Europe, particularly Italy, is still in a awful situation.

'When people kind of compare it, in some respects it has some similarities, but it's really, really different in its degree of seriousness, ' Fauci said. "The United States is a big country, we have so many different regions, like New York City right now is having a bad time, and yet there are places in the country that are doing really quite well".

Can You Get the Coronavirus a Second Time? "They went up and down and are starting to get back to some normal life", Fauci told Curry. 'Then you can pinpoint causes much more easily [instead of] getting overwhelmed by cases, which is what was going on in New York City'. Since then no fewer than six other National Basketball Association players have also tested positive.

In medical terms, Fauci mentioned that the "general rule" is to have two cultures, 24 hours apart, that test negative, but said that as more people get infected that likely is not going to be feasible.

This is the latest effort from Curry to help in the fight to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Federal government makes self-isolation for travellers mandatory
Earlier this month, the Canadian government followed the lead of other countries and closed their borders to foreign visitors. Freeland said the issue had been debated "at length" during the coronavirus cabinet committee meeting on Monday night.

He stressed that young people need to adhere to social distancing and other steps created to slow the spread of the virus both to protect themselves and to prevent other, more vulnerable people from contracting it. Several notable names joined in on the stream, including his former teammate, Andre Iguodala, Justin Bieber, Common, and former U.S. President Barack Obama. One, you need to protect yourself because you're not completely exempt from serious illness.

'Which means you can then safely go out into the community and feel immune so that you cannot only protect yourself and get back to work, get back to your job, but you'll be able to have what's referred to as herd immunity, ' he continued.

"That's what we've got to be careful of".

Both Curry and Fauci wanted to make it clear that government officials, both on a local and national scale, were not overreacting to the virus. "This is the first time we've ever dealt with this virus", Fauci said. "This is serious business".

Curry said he wanted to encourage his followers to take the threat of spreading the virus seriously, describing photos and videos of young people at parks and beaches.

Dr. Fauci stressed the importance of social distancing and constantly washing your hands among the best practices.
