Rescheduled Tokyo Olympics need sacrifices from all stakeholders: Bach

Summerside wrestler Ligrit Sadiku was training for his first Olympic Games

President Trump comments on the state of the 2020 summer games in Tokyo at the White House.

Next year's games "will testify to the defeat of the virus", said Prime Minister Abe.

The Tokyo Olympics could take place earlier than the summer of 2021, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said Wednesday.

The company had signed a contract to provide temporary electricity to power 43 competition venues of Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Athletes Village and the International Broadcast centre, ensuring reliable power and uninterrupted television broadcast to millions of viewers. Hashimoto said the global pandemic of coronavirus infections should end before Japan can proceed with hosting the Tokyo Olympic Games, after the meeting.

A day after announcing the decision to postpone this year's Olympics due to the new coronavirus pandemic, Bach told reporters by conference call that other options beside the traditional summer months "were on the table" as the planning moves forward.

Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian's Decade-Long Feud Timeline
In the call, Kanye tells Taylor about a song he's working on - that he later released as " Famous " - with lyrics about Taylor . However, the true point of contention seems to be about whether or not West got Swift's approval to use the word, "b--".

"We acknowledge this has been a very hard situation for both the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 organising committee and we thank them for listening to our athletes and athletes worldwide to provide some certainty". With Tokyo 2020 now being pushed back to next year, the two events look likely to be held in really close dates. Issuing a statement, Prime Minister Abe said: "I proposed to Mr Bach that we postpone the Games for a year".

The postponement is a blow to Japan. The release details that the delay will last no later than summer 2021.

The IOC and Japanese authorities will need to come to a swift agreement as to who should shoulder the additional costs arising from the postponement.

The IOC is due to start talks from Thursday with other global sporting bodies as moving the enormous Olympics event has a knock-on effect for many other competitions.
