NVIDIA DLSS 2.0: A Big Leap In AI Rendering

Nvidia announces DLSS 2.0 with improved rendering quality

Control is among the list of those which will adopt DLSS 2.0 once it arrives.

This is a welcome update, particularly if it works as advertised (we'll perform our own testing to find out).it also follows the recent announcement of DirectX 12 Ultimate, which is supported by all GeForce RTX graphics cards as well.

Powered by RTX Tensor Cores, DLSS 2.0 is a new and improved deep learning neural network that boosts frame rates while generating lovely, sharp images for games.

Alongside that, the new AI model more efficiently uses Tensor Cores so that it can execute 2x faster than the original, thereby improving frame rates. The graphics chip maker adds that "new temporal feedback techniques", are employed by DLSS 2.0 and this produces sharper imagery with greater stability from frame to frame.

DLSS 2.0 as seen in Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Deliver Us The Moon builds on over a year of AI expertise and does away with the need to run each individual game through giant AI computers. That may change starting this month, as Nvidia has now announced DLSS 2.0, overhauling the tech for better results. This last point is important, as it should mean that a lot more developers use it. DLSS 2.0 does still need access to the buffers though, and so does need per game integration as opposed to just magically working with everything, but it's still definitely a step in the right direction.

Superior Image Quality - DLSS 2.0 offers image quality comparable to native resolution while only having to render one quarter to one half of the pixels.

Wall Street surges on expectation of $2 trillion rescue package
Shares of Wynn and MGM Resorts were up more than 11%. Boeing gained more than 17% to lead the Dow higher. The 10-year was up 3.7 basis points at 0.855%.

A Big Leap in AI RenderingPowered by dedicated AI processors on GeForce RTX GPUs called Tensor Cores, DLSS 2.0 is an improved deep learning neural network that boosts frame rates while generating attractive game images. "This improves frame rates and eliminates previous limitations on which GPUs, settings, and resolutions could be enabled", NVIDIA says. The hope is that developers get on board for this new version of DLSS much faster, who doesn't want to be able to run a 4K version of their game while only using the rendering resources for 1440p?

The technology can even make fine details appear more crisp than native rendering thanks to the way the upscaling works, as shown below in Quality mode. DLSS 2.0 offers three image quality modes including Quality, Balanced, and Performance, so it's simple enough to play around with.

Among the benefits of this new approach is the ability to upscale frames by up to 4 times the sample resolution (DLSS 1.0 only allowed for 2 time upscales).

DLSS 2.0 also comes to Deliver Us the Moon and Wolfenstein: Youngblood along with Control and Mechwarrior 5.

There are a few applied sciences behind the scenes which can be powering DLSS 2.0, together with enhancements to the AI community, which is now twice as quick, a rise within the goal decision together with the addition of temporal suggestions, and the shift to utilizing one mannequin for all video games.
