Ninth coronavirus case diagnosed in UK as virus spreads to capital

A Chinese citizen has died from the coronavirus in France, the French health minister confirmed on Saturday, February 15.

The man - a Chinese tourist from the province of Hubei - arrived in France on January 16, then was hospitalized on January 25 under strict isolation measures.

She added that the man's daughter, who is hospitalised at the Bichar hospital in northern Paris, was no longer a source of concern for health authorities and could be released soon.

France's health minister confirmed on Saturday that a Chinese tourist had died of the virus in France, noting the first fatality from the virus in Europe.

The sufferer is a girl thought to have flown to the U.Ok. from China, the place she is suspected to have contracted the virus.

The patient, a Chinese tourist from the province of Hubei, had a lung infection caused by the COVID-19 virus.

"Most of all, we're concerned about the potential havoc this virus could wreak in countries with weaker health systems".

Of the 11 cases in France, four patients were successfully treated and have checked out of hospital.

It also follows warnings from a coronavirus expert that the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories could lead to more cases in the UK.

Anyone experiencing symptoms, even if mild, after travelling from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau, is advised to stay indoors and call the NHS 111 phone service.

Outside mainland China, there have been about 500 cases in some 24 countries and territories.

One of the goals of the joint mission is to provide suggestions on the prevention and control of the coronavirus outbreak in China and globally, it said.

The most concentrated number of cases outside China is on a cruise ship quarantined off the Japanese coast, which is holding at least 285 people with the virus among its 3,700 crew and passengers.
