Forecasters Warning Of Flooding In The Midlands This Weekend

Galway Daily news Storm Dennis to bring fresh flood risk this weekend

"There will be widespread showers through the night", according to Met Éireann.

On Sunday, a fourth amber warning for areas south of London, stretching from Andover in Hampshire eastwards, has also been issued from shortly after midnight until 6pm.

Meteorologist Luke Miall said: "The centre of this low-pressure system is forecast to fall into the region of 920mb, if it goes below 914mb it will be the lowest in the North Atlantic since 1993".

"Wet and very windy on Saturday".

Two existing yellow warnings for wind and rain are still in place.

After last weekend's storm, river levels are high; the ground is saturated and trackside trees have been weakened, this is why operators are advising passengers to check before travelling.

"Last weekend, we received over 1,300 reports of issues on the highway caused by the storm and had teams clearing the roads into the early hours of Monday morning".

Dennis threatens widespread damage and floods particularly across southern Britain which is in the firing line for the worst of the rain.
