CDC: Coronavirus test kits shipped across U.S. are faulty

The Center for Disease Control confirmed Thursday morning that a patient has been quarantined in a San Antonio hospital with Coronavirus or COVID-19.

The patient was among 232 individuals placed under quarantine at the base after being airlifted from the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak.

This is the first person under quarantine at JBSA-Lackland who had symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus, the agency said.

All states received testing kits - which can test between 700 and 800 patient samples, officials have previously said - but it's not now clear which states have reported faulty kits. Apparently, one of the reagents used in the tests wasn't performing consistently. "As soon as we are given the invitation, we are happy to do that", Messonnier said.

"There will probably be additional cases from the coming weeks and days, including one of other individuals lately returned in Wuhan", the CDC said in a statement.

'Since airport screening began in mid-January we have screened more than 30,000 passengers. Across the United States only 12 others have tested positive.

"It's concerning that there is a high number of cases", she said. "CDC stands ready to send staff to the affected areas in China to work on this investigation".

Missing 6-year-old Faye Marie Swetlik found dead: authorities
Before her body was discovered, Faye was last seen playing outside of her home on Londonderry Lane in Cayce around 3:45 p.m. Snellgrove also said a deceased man was found in the area, but Snellgrove declined to say the bodies were connected.

The CDC has not released any information on where in ME the individual lives but has said the person agreed to stay home until the test results come back. An American did die from the virus in Wuhan.

No deaths from the virus have been reported in the United States. A media report said the patient was sent back to quarantine following a mix-up in testing. The initial test run didn't include the patient's sample.

Appropriate infection control procedures were in place the whole time, Messonnier said.

Doctors in China said there was an urgent need for a simpler and faster diagnostic test, World Health Organization officials said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Janssen and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of ASPR, will share research and development costs and expertise to help speed Janssen's candidate COVID-19 vaccine into clinical trials. So far, 175 people on the ship have been infected with the virus - the largest single outbreak cluster outside of China.

A fifteenth American has coronavirus, United States officials announced Thursday.
