National Hockey League player alert after suffering cardiac episode during Blues-Ducks game

NHL News: Jay Bouwmeester collapses, game suspended, alert en route to hospital

"With 7:50 remaining in the first period of our game tonight, Jay Bouwmeester suffered a cardiac episode and collapsed on our bench after completing his shift", Armstrong said in the release.

The NHL made a decision to postpone the Blues-Ducks game, which was stopped immediately after Jay's collapse.

The NHL has postponed a game for a medical emergency involving Rich Peverley of the Dallas Stars against the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 10, 2014, and involving Jiri Fischer of the Detroit Red Wings against the Nashville Predators on November 21, 2005.

We will have updates on this situation as they are made available. The teams agreed not to continue the game Tuesday, instead resuming it at another date.

Pietrangelo was right near the Blues' bench and helped, along with teammate Vince Dunn, flag down the medical staff immediately after Bouwmeester collapsed.

"Jay regained consciousness immediately and was transported directly to the UCI Irvine Medical Center", Armstrong told reporters in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Embiid sparks chaos with cryptic post, Butler chimes in
Embiid's gesture seemed to set off a lot of people as coach Brett Brown said he wanted to talk to him about it and then move on. While sports fans in Philadelphia know how to show love for their favorite player, it isn't unconditional.

Blues star Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on the team's bench mid-game - and was rushed to the hospital with what officials are calling a "cardiac episode".

Following the incident, the Blues did announce that he is conscious and alert after undergoing further testing by the Ducks' physicians, according to ESPN.

During an update on Blues radio 101ESPN, Chris Kerber said a defibrillator was used. St. Louis, which is now hosting its annual Dad's Trip, play the Golden Knights on Thursday.

The 36-year-old Bouwmeester is in his 17th National Hockey League season and has been known for his strong skating and conditioning.

The NHL has pages of emergency medical standards that spell out in specific detail that at least two doctors must be in attendance for every game, one within 50 feet of the bench. He helped the Blues win the Stanley Cup a year ago.

The Bruins met the Blues and Bouwmeester in the Stanley Cup Finals past year, where the St. Louis forward recorded two assists, including one in the Blues Game Seven win. He played all but four games last season and hasn't missed a game this season.
