Patient tested positive for the novel coronavirus linked to the outbreak in Wuhan.

Several dozen people in China's Wuhan City have suffered from coronavirus and one man has died, according to news reports.

The patient has since recovered and is well enough to be repatriated.

Chinese health officials are still struggling to identify a fast-spreading virus, which has left one person dead and infected many others.

"I'd like to ask the public not to be alarmed", Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand's deputy premier and health minister, said in the statement.

"Being able to identify a patient shows that our monitoring system is efficient".

The Thai Health Ministry said on Monday that of 12 passengers quarantined since January 3, lab results show that a 61-year-old Chinese woman carried a strain of the coronavirus. The WHO said the evidence is "highly suggestive" that the outbreak is associated with this location, given that most of the 41 cases worked at or were frequent visitors to the market.

Health authorities in Wuhan have said they have not identified any human transmission of the virus, meaning that each case would have come from the person being exposed to the virus from an animal. No specific precautions were necessary for travelers, the global health watchdog said. Seven others are said to be in critical condition.

"If the illness looks for us, there's nothing we can do", she said.

The Chinese government expects passengers to make 440 million trips via rail and another 79 million trips via airplanes, officials told a news briefing on January 9.

The 36-year-old Chinese women visited the city in central China last month started showing symptoms like coughing and inflammation of the throat.

Researchers from other cities have been invited to Wuhan to exchange information.

Coronavirus can cause a range of illnesses, from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) - the latter of which infected some 8,000 people in 2003.

The cluster of the novel coronavirus was initially reported on December 31 past year.

SARS killed hundreds of people in China and Hong Kong in the early 2000s. Some of the virus types cause less serious illnesses, while some such as the one that causes MERS are much more serious. "We learnt that they have been isolated, and the disease is being traced or investigated to unearth its cause", he stated.
