Harvey Weinstein and company reach $25 million settlement in civil suit

Harvey Weinstein leaves court

This ensures I am here January 6.

Lawyers will now begin working on turning the preliminary term sheet into an official settlement agreement, which will require approval from at least two judges - one from the federal court in DE overseeing the Weinstein Company's bankruptcy and the other from a federal court in NY.

Judge Burke warned that he would revoke bail and issue a warrant for Weinstein's arrest if other issues crop up, adding: "If you have any further medical issues, the court will not be terribly understanding".

He's also accused of forcibly performing oral sex on production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping another woman, who hasn't been publicly named, in 2013.

In October 2017, Weinstein was accused in civil lawsuits filed by more than 30 women of sexual harassment, assault and rape. He had been free on $1 million bail and maintains that any sexual activity was consensual.

Weinstein's lawyer, Donna Rotunno, said he is "looking forward" to the trial and that they plan an aggressive defence with vigorous cross-examination.

Justice James Burke set a $2 million insurance company bond or $5 million cash.

In addition to the two main accusers in the case, prosecutors have said they intend to call other women to testify at trial in order to establish a pattern of behaviour.

But on Wednesday, Illuzzi told the court that the person monitoring Weinstein does not believe the problems were due to technical glitches, but rather intentional acts by Weinstein because "didn't want anyone to know where he was".

"I don't think it was the adding of the extra batteries", Ms Illuzzi said.

Katherine Kendall, 50, an actress who accused Weinstein of luring her to what she thought would be a work discussion in 1993 and then chasing her around his NY apartment while he was nude, said she was disappointed by the terms but had agreed to them partly because she didn't want to block fellow plaintiffs from getting whatever recompense they could. "It was Mr. Weinstein's panic that the court might change the bail".

After the hearing, Rotunno countered Illuzzi's assertion. Many, she said, were because of the location of Weinstein's home, which is in Bedford, N.Y., where there are few cell towers.

In recent months, he has been spotted hobnobbing at New York City nightclubs and getting jeered at a recent actors' showcase.
