Democrats eye Trump impeachment charges this week

Justin Amash Commits to Impeachment

The president has repeatedly blasted the House inquiry as a partisan attack by House Democrats, and on Sunday he tweeted that the Judiciary hearings are part of a "hoax" by the "No Due Process, Do Nothing Democrats".

Nadler said on CNN that his committee hasn't decided what to include in the articles of impeachment but will "take a lot of considerations into account".

"Speaker Pelosi has charged us with writing articles of impeachment and we're in the process of exploring every possible dimension of that process", Raskin said. "Democrats have wasted all of their time, and all of America's time on this ridiculous impeachment sham", said Sanders.

"President Trump abused his power, betrayed our national security, and corrupted our elections, all for personal gain", Nadler said in a statement. The Constitution details only one remedy for this misconduct: "impeachment".

The impeachment process moved this week from the House Intelligence Committee to the House Judiciary Committee, after the former released its report to lawmakers that was created to lay out the evidence to remove Mr Trump from office.

"It is impossible for Judiciary members to sift through thousands and thousands of pages in any meaningful way in a matter of hours", the committee's top Republican, Representative Doug Collins, told Nadler in a weekend letter. "You should end this inquiry now and not waste even more time with additional hearings", wrote the White House counsel, Pat Cipollone, in a letter to the House Judiciary Committee chairman, Representative Jerrold Nadler of NY.

Less than one year away from the 2020 election, McCarthy said that Democrats aren't listing to their constituents in making their decisions on impeachment. Once a trial is concluded, a two-thirds majority in the Senate is then needed to remove Trump from office.

Rocket hits Iraqi clerics home following deadly Baghdad attack, no casualties reported
Iraqi President Barham Salih strongly condemned the "armed criminal attack of criminal gangs", although he did not name any group.

Nadler dismissed the contention, saying that the documents presented on Saturday were basically the intelligence committee report released earlier in the week to both Republicans and Democrats. "The president, based on his past performance, will do everything he can to make it not make it a fair election". But a House GOP ally called Giuliani's trip "weird", coming as House investigators review allegations that Giuliani improperly worked on behalf of Trump to pressure Ukraine to pursue investigations into Biden and Biden's son, as well as a discredited conspiracy theory that Ukraine, not Russian Federation, interfered in the 2016 USA election. Hunter Biden joined the board of a Ukrainian energy company when his father was President Obama's deputy.

Impeachment - all you need to know What is Mr Trump accused of?

But the current document is clearly meant to be a road map for Democrats, tracking closely with the allegations they have already made about Mr. Trump's conduct.

Trump said over the weekend that his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani wants to take the information gathered from Giuliani's investigations and a recent trip to Ukraine to the USA attorney general and to Congress. His counsel, according to the House rules, is going to report to the committee tomorrow. "I hear he's found plenty".

The first investigation Mr Trump wanted from Ukraine was into former Vice-President Joe Biden, his main Democratic challenger, and his son Hunter.

Nadler also said he declined last week to call the eight witnesses Republicans requested to come before the committee because he viewed them as being "irrelevant". None previous were removed from office, although Richard Nixon resigned as he faced nearly certain impeachment in 1974 over the Watergate scandal.
