Cam Newton To Undergo Foot Surgery

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera looks on during the first half of an NFL football game against the Tennessee Titans in Charlotte N.C. Sunday Nov. 3 2019

"I believe this is the best decision for the long-term success of our team", Panthers' owner David Tepper said. "(He's) too good of a man, and I have great respect for Ron. "For me to have that type of presence, it just reminds me that.it's right", he said, according to ESPN.

The Carolina Panthers fired head coach Ron Rivera on Tuesday after nine years with the team. Quarterbacks coach Scott Turner will serve as offensive coordinator.

Since 2011, the coach had a 76-63-1 regular-season record and a 3-4 postseason record. Rivera, who guided the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance, leaves Carolina after nine seasons in charge.

But the Panthers have fallen on hard times lately following injuries to quarterback Cam Newton the past two seasons.

Newton aggravated the Lisfranc injury, originally suffered in the third preseason game, in a Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ron Rivera firing wasn't a huge surprise, although the timing might be. Thank you for giving me an opportunity. You shouldn't expect it, and fans shouldn't expect. He also surely deserves and will get another chance at being a head football coach.

In Bahamas, Tiger Woods goes through a dress rehearsal
The Hero World Problem runs Wednesday to Saturday, afterwards Woods and the People head to Australia. It was an awkward wind, and we haven't really seen that during tournament play here.

Rivera, 57, did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment from The Associated Press. If he has old-school discipline and modern and innovative processes.

The Panthers reached the Super Bowl with Rivera at the helm in the 2015 season, but lost 24-10 to the Broncos. He's followed by Jim Harbaugh (13-2), even though the MI coach said in October that reports of him looking to return to the National Football League are "total crap".

It is unclear what they are going to do with the injured Cam Newton at the end of the season.

The Panthers placed him on injured reserve on November 5, which raises questions and intrigue of why it took so long for Newton to elect to go the surgical route. The Panthers could release him before any monies are due and avoid the salary cap hit. He appeared in only two games this year and was replaced by Kyle Allen, who won his first four starts this season before losing five of his next six games.

Newton said Tuesday on social media that "this one hurt deep".

"My biggest regret is not winning the Super Bowl", Rivera said. I really can't tell you why it was a good fit - I can tell you now, but back then, I couldn't. "I don't care what you do, admit when you do things wrong", Tepper said.
