Jones Offer Lukewarm Support For Garrett

Angry’ Cowboys have ‘chippy’ practice Sunday ‘No one’s happy that’s for sure

So when Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, talks about his head coach on 105.3 the Fan, ears perk up to take a listen. Jerry was a bit more vague. Ignorance is bliss to the Cowboys' head man, who's mastered the art of coach-speak during his decade-long reign in Dallas. Is there more context? Yes.

Asked why he is against firing 53-year-old Garrett in season, Jones replied: "First of all, Jason Garrett is a good coach". For a little more context, earlier in the interview Jones called Garrett a terrific coach.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has suggested his franchise's coach will have a job in the National Football League next season.

Jones' comments are also intriguing as they come a week after Ian Rapoport of NFL Network suggested the New York Giants had emerged as a potential landing spot for Garrett, should he be fired by the Cowboys. After the Cowboys fell to the Patriots in Week 12, Jones said "I shouldn't be this frustrated" considering the makeup of the team and pointed the finger elsewhere, saying "I don't think there's a game where a coaching staff couldn't do better". The latter has been the norm over the last few weeks, with Dallas now 6-6, having dropped two straight.

Dallas reached its lowest point of the season on Thanksgiving, when nearly every unit struggled in a double-digit loss to Buffalo.

Marvel’s new ‘Black Widow’ trailer teases the spy thriller Natasha Romanoff deserves
The film has Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as the badass SHIELD agent and former Russian spy Black Widow . Romanoff exclaimed, to which Barton replied in deadpan fashion, "You and I remember Budapest very differently".

Garrett, unlike any other coach, is a lame duck, his contract will expire in 2020. He knows this team better than anybody. "Those three guys did a nice job for us, but Brett is going to be our kicker going forward", Garrett said. "It's about taking one game at a time and being accountable".

Garrett's job status is coming under fire this season with the team underperforming, but Jones says Garrett will finish out the season as the teams head coach regardless of what happens in the final four games of the 2019 season. Who's got the exclusive skills to get the job done so that collectively you can win a Super Bowl?

The question isn't whether or not Garrett will be a head coach next year.

Last week, Jones said he defines success only as a Super Bowl title and wants Garrett to "get it done".

"There is no bar", Jones said. But there are many things.
