Haters Came for Dwyane Wade's Son, and Wade Hit Back

Dwyane Wade

Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union, took to social media to post a Thanksgiving photo of the family that included their son, Zion Malachi Airamis Wade, and his baby sister, Kaavia James Union Wade.

"Why are they encouraging this at such a young age?"

"Smh wtf this lil boy got nails on for?" one person wrote, according to Complex.

"Why does his son have his nails done and dressed like a girl?" another commented. "Y'all let this go to far and he's just a kid".

D-Wade also retweeted a strong Twitter post that supported his stance on his son's sexuality.

"I've seen hatred after the party on the family photo".

In response, Dwayne stated he has seen many hateful comments about his family following Thanksgiving, because "stupidity is apart of this world we live in - so I get it". (Damnit I'm crying) In our community, being given autonomy over your body, beliefs, image, & statements as a child isn't a thing. "So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!" the former Miami Heat player wrote.

The tweet has since received more than 250,000 likes and nearly 40,000 retweets.

Pakistan rue not being better prepared for Australia conditions
Pakistan is desperate for Australia's Test cricketers to end their two-decade absence from the country, captain Azhar Ali says. Australia's victory came on the back of their mammoth 589 for three declared, driven by David Warner's memorable 335 not out.

Wade and Union, Zion's stepmom, have publicly supported the boy. Some people dont have that so its easier for them to judge because they dont understand it. Keep doing what you doing.

"You are a great father and role model!" Say it louder for the people in the back row. Another report conducted by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network found that almost half of Black/African-American LGBTQ students felt unsafe due to their sexual orientation; over a third felt unsafe because of their gender expression and almost 40 percent of Black/ African-American students were more likely to experience in-school discipline.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been vocal about their thoughts on the importance of inclusivity before.

Earlier this year, Union accompanied Zion to the Miami Pride Festival.

Wade's comments received an outpouring of support on Instagram.

Another family photo he shared read: "Zion had his [own] cheering section today".

Wade has made it a priority to raise his kids with more freedom than he was allowed as a child. "It emphasizes that transgender and gender-diverse children - like all children - need support, love and care from family, school and society".
