Chiefs dominate Raiders, take control of AFC West

While rookie running back Josh Jacobs rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries, the Raiders quickly became a one-dimensional offense because of the Chiefs' big lead.

Kansas City's defense swarmed Derek Carr, forcing two first-half interceptions - one of which was returned for a touchdown.

With their victory, the Chiefs advanced to 8-4, while the Raiders fell to 6-6. However, Williams was stopped on a fourth and one at Oakland's 15 despite two attempts. The Raiders are exceeding expectations, sitting just a game back of Kansas City in the standings.

With the short field, the Chiefs doubled their lead.

Oakland was held to just three points until finally scoring its first touchdown of the game with under a minute left.

The Chiefs didn't need Patrick Mahomes to perform at an MVP level to win this one, especially playing in sub-40 degree temperatures with winds over 30 miles per hour.

7 dead in small plane crash in Canada
Ash Gutheinz said Thursday there's "no indication" there were any survivors from the crash. Among the seven people killed were three children.

Prior to the bye week, the Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football and Mahomes wasn't his usual self in that game either, going 19 of 32 for 182 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while getting sacked once.

This is important moving forward because the Kansas City Chiefs can't win if Mahomes does all of the work.

Kansas City's offense totaled 259 yards, 137.1 below its season average of 396.1.

Up next, the Chiefs face a huge matchup when they visit the New England Patriots next Sunday at 9.25pm.

In the type of play that simply doesn't occur very often, Ward picked up the blocked kick - courtesy of defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon - and ran all the way to the other end zone to tally two points for Kansas City. Meanwhile, the Raiders will host the Tennessee Titans, winners of five of their last six.
