Apple under fire over 'sexist' credit card limit

Jennifer Bailey vice president of Apple Pay speaks about the Apple Card

Representatives of Goldman Sachs said that the bank gives loans only "based on the creditworthiness of customers" and does not take into account their gender, race, age, or other factors. Hard to get to a human for a correction though.

Launched with fanfare in August, Apple Card has the backing of Mastercard and Goldman Sachs.

New York's Department of Financial Services confirmed that an investigation was being conducted.

The allegations suggest that the credit limit of potential applicants seeking Apple card is decided by artificial intelligence.

The Wall Street bank behind Apple Card found itself in hot water after tech entrepreneur David Heinemeier Hansson lambasted the service's "black box algorithm" for giving him 20 times the credit limit that his wife got. Launched onto the competitive market of credit cards dominated by Best Buy credit card, Home Depot card, and others, Apple card was inducted as the "digital-first" credit card.

Apple's tech-oriented credit card is at the heart of a new investigation into alleged gender discrimination. Hansson noted that, despite being married for several years and sharing assets, Goldman Sachs neglected to match their credit limits.

Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Version 1909
Addresses an issue in the Keyboard Lockdown Subsystem that might not filter key input correctly. Today is the second Tuesday of the month, which means that its Microsoft's Patch Tuesday .

Over the weekend, one of Apple Card's most high-profile users - who also happens to be none other than Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak - took the dramatic step of joining in the calls from critics who want more government oversight over the algorithms used to make decisions about card users. It does not matter what the intent of individual Apple reps are, it matters what THE ALGORITHM they've placed their complete faith in does. "Any algorithm, that intentionally or not results in discriminatory treatment of women or any other protected class of people violates NY law".

David Hansson, a Danish entrepreneur and California resident, is known for creating Ruby on Rails, a popular computer coding language used to create database-backed web applications.

"As soon as this became a PR issue, they immediately bumped up her credit limit without asking for any additional documentation", he said.

He said that customer service employees were unable to explain why the algorithm had designated her to be less creditworthy but had assured his wife that the bank was not discriminating against women. We look at an individual's income and an individual's creditworthiness, which includes factors like personal credit scores, how much debt you have, and how that debt has been managed.

The use of algorithms by lenders in credit decisions has drawn scrutiny in Congress.
